Top jacket

Top jacket, great value for money, but too heavy for my taste.

For its price and its top waterproofing, I ask to see over time!

One of my favorite jackets

I have used it very often for two years. She's really great!

Print jacket

The jacket is excellent. I tested it for two hours on the mountain, in an almost torrential rain, and the water only entered the area of the pockets that were open. The breathability could be better and the weight could be less. from the poorly made and too tight hood so that when you don't have the hood on your head it's embarrassing at the back of your neck regardless of the adjustment you make to prevent this from happening. Excellent material, cut to my taste, excellent color choice, overall a jacket that would have cost me twice as much from other competing companies and whose name I cannot give here. Conclusion: an excellent choice!

Takes water after 3 hours of walking in the rain

Very pretty and practical jacket but having taken it for wet hikes... I am disappointed after 3 hours in the rain the jacket capitulated. the hike lasted 7 hours so imagine that I was soaked. the hood and pockets are very waterproof 👌

Superb value - but size up

I'm normally a size L but this jacket is VERY fitted. I had to size up to XL in order to be able to move easily and wear a jumper beneath it. The jacket itself is actually waterproof, so it's incredible value for money, especially when you compare it to the eye-watering prices for waterproofs from the big brands such as Arcteryx, Norrona, etc.

Beautiful jacket

Beautiful jacket, especially the smoky green color. On the other hand, after a few months of use I noticed that the fabric located under the bottom of the zippers has been damaged, I am afraid that it will open before 1 year of use: you should not open the zippers completely. pockets to avoid this except that they are located quite high (which is also the charm of the jacket). In short, small design concerns (choice of material, protection of the slides to be reinforced?)

Always stronger

I bought this jacket for mountain biking use and I am not disappointed. Perfectly waterproof with an index equal to or higher than overpriced jackets. The vents under the arms are ideal for ventilation when the effort is intense. Interior pocket, waterproof zip, nothing is missing.

The sleeves are a…

The sleeves are a little too big for the size I tried the size below too small and tighten

Not much 100% waterproof, 50/50 should be.

Main component

3-layer component with membrane

Membrane

The waterproof rating of a product depends on the following two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was made with a membrane. This is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight and breathable.

Layer design

3 layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable and high-performing jackets

Component waterproofing

Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. To this end, the resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm (JIS 1092 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This product's component has a 25,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 25,000 mm water column. This is also equivalent to 25000 Schmerbers.

Water resistance of the jacket

We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios in order to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 18 cm rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

Breathability

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabricRET ≤ 12: breathable fabricRET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product was assessed at 6 RET

How to restore the water-repellent properties

A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. The fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. The water-repellent property can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use the waterproof spray (ref 8554908)

Product testing

Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. As well as numerous field tests, we test products in a laboratory according to the desired properties (e.g.: shower test for waterproofness, wind tunnel test for windproof properties, etc.).
