Questions & Answers

Question:

Please provide instructions on mounting brackets on pole tips. I bought a pair of the poles but brackets were not mounted on the pole tips.

Answer:

Please specify the question for us to help you better. The baskets are attached to our poles by screwing/snapping them.

Question:

Are these poles shock absobing?

Answer:

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs. To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Good sticks

Bought for a beginner and I find that the price is very good for the quality, light, when folded they take up little space, you can easily buy parts and various other accessories. It's great that they have foam on the grip and also a big plus that the foam is much lower, making them ideal for winter hikes :) I recommend, but it's worth checking the tightening of these locks because they unscrew easily.

Trekking poles

A product worth its price. Light, nothing creaks, does not bend, easily and quickly unfolds. I walked about 80 km in the Karkonosze Mountains with them, they have never failed:)

Sticks on top

Impeccable value for money. Comfortable in the hand, precise adjustment and does not move.

nice, comfortable - although it clicks and wears out quickly

The stick is excellent, it can withstand serious loads - several hundred km - without any problems, reliably. The opening method - that is, you pull the lower stem out until it clicks and it locks there - is brilliant at first, and really convenient, but unfortunately the stick clicks/snaps during use... because the snap-in button does not lock the lowest stem, so when the stick reaches the bottom, the lower member slides in, the metal hits, it clicks... with every step. It is bearable, but annoying in the long run, you get tired of it - especially if it is the only one that makes noise among many other sticks. The tip wears out relatively quickly - compared to branded sticks - and is relatively expensive. The stick is currently 7000, the entire lower stem with the tip is 2000, and just the tip is 1500/pc. For a 80,000-pound pole, I get a pair of tips for 2,000 forints, which will last much longer than this one - where 3,000 for a pair... is disproportionately expensive.

Good

The poles work very well. With my large hands, a larger grip would be useful, the lower one could be ribbed. When folded, they take up little space and easily fit in the outline of a twenty-liter backpack. Durable, compact and you can buy them individually. Great.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

How it was designed...

This model is entirely designed and approved by our team, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The starting point of our design is the external locking mechanism for precise and fast adjustment. Combined with a push-pin that unfolds and folds automatically. Then we designed a handle that allows multiple grips: along the tube for climbs and banking terrain, with the wrist-strap for efficient pushing and on the knob for descents. Then we use our best 7075-T6 aluminium for controlled weight

How to adjust your poles to the correct length?

Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To do this: -pull the bottom strand all the way out until the auto push-pin (metal button) locks - open the lever of the external blocker - slide the tube to the desired length - close the lever Never exceed the STOP line to avoid the risk of breaking the pole.

Directions for use

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to slide down, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.

Care tips

Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.

Why is the pole sold individually?

At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.

Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model

The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Hiking pole caps: ref. 8580865Summer baskets: ref. 8737774Winter baskets: ref. 8503857Replacement tip: ref. 8577675 or 8755646 (if new screwable version)Replacement ring: ref. 8642201Replacement stopper: ref. 8642202Lower section MT500: ref. 8642205

Product testing

To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Storage instructions

Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
