Question:

Is there a sizing chart for backpacks?

Answer:

Which size should i choose? During several field test sessions with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 liters, the difference in comfort was mainly down to the back height of the bag. We therefore offer all our models in 2 sizes to meet these requirements. If you are taller than 67'', go for size L. If you are shorter than 67'', you will be better off with a size S.

Question:

Per your sizing info, if taller than 67", you recommend size large. I am 5' - 8" is 68". Shouldn't I be large size?

Answer:

We recommend a size L for you.

Great hiking/trekking bag

Used during treks in particular, the capacity is perfect for putting the necessary without overloading. In addition, it is very comfortable and functional with its many storage spaces. It is really great for a fairly reasonable price, I totally recommend it! Small details to think about: - The rings under the bag are practical but I have not yet tested wearing a tent for a long time in this place. I wonder if this location is not likely to create unpleasant friction on long hikes. Additional rings on the top would be great! - The fact that the rain cover is not detachable prevents it from being lost but when we arrive soaked in a place after a day of walking we can be asked to leave it outside so as not to get everything wet or to dry it but suddenly it is not possible. A system of clips or other could be nice.

trekking backpack

great backpack really offers a lot if compared to its price. the back makes it comfortable and breathable. the very comfortable and padded lumbar bands unload the weight well and the elasticized pockets offer a truly usable space. the backpack offers a maximum load of 8kg but using it you can also carry 10kg. 12kg we start to be uncomfortable, it is not able to unload the load so well on the legs starting to weigh on the shoulders. the internal spaces really offer the possibility of carrying a lot of material and with the combination of external pockets its load capacity is truly excellent.

Good fit

The S size option and multiple straps allow for a very good fit. Additionally, the waist strap is more consistent than on previous models.

I bought the backpack for shorter multi-day hikes, but it also worked well on the camino. Although I would have appreciated a lighter backpack, in my opinion it is completely unbeatable for the price. It is very practical and thoughtfully designed. In particular, the slightly forward tilt of the bottle pockets makes it much easier to remove them even with a backpack on my back. The comfort of carrying is also excellent. Even with about 20kg of cargo, I had no problem carrying it all day.

Very good, I was not disappointed

I bought this bag for the El Camino. My luggage weighed 10kg including the bag, I walked in it for 3 weeks. I am completely satisfied. I am 180cm tall, so it was important to choose this model for tall people. I was able to adjust it well to my back. It is especially good that it has a built-in rain cover!

G.O.A.T. backpack

I bought this backpack with an aim for 2-3 day hikes in summer season. However, just used it for overnight backpacking in winter Sierras. And I totally happy with it. This backpack checked all the marks for me: - it's relatively lightweight but it doesn't look like cheap or flimsy. Time will show, but after 1 winter trip it looks as new. - It has good back frame and suspension, very comfortable to wear, even with a relatively heavy load. - Easy to use bottle pockets. I don't know why other brands still use `traditional` water pockets. It's so easy to grab a water bottle on the go and put it back, no need to stretch arms or take off the pack. - A front zipper and front load function. I was specifically looking for this as I planned to use the same backpack with photo storage compartment in summer time to easily access my camera. It has a J shaped zipper, which works well and opens up enough to reach to any stuff at the bottom of the pack. - Stretch front pocket worked well to hold avalanche shovel blade. And hence it's not designed specifically for that - it doesn't show any wear and tear. - It has loops at the bottom to attach your mat or whatever you want. Those loops are tiny, but will work with accessory cord or narrow straps. I used Matador gear straps and they fit flawlessly. - Many, no really, many usable pockets and attachment straps. You can use compression straps in different configuration, depends on your load and what you carry inside / outside the pack. - Built-in rain cover. I know many people prefer to use wetsacks instead, but for winter it's good to have an outside backpack shell , so that you can lie down the pack and use it as a seat, while chilling. - The price. It's really hard to beat the price for this pack. I don't know how they managed to make such a good pack for less than 100USD. I bought it even cheaper when on sale online. - Was delivered to doors in two days for free. Minor pita: - You can't remove rain-cover. It's sewed to bungee cord. But you can, of course, use scissors to solve this issue :) not a big deal for me. I read some people have issues with straps that tend to get loose over time, so you need to tight'em up again. It's difficult to say here, I personally didn't have any issues with straps, maybe Decathlon has addressed this issue, or maybe because it's still new and didn't see much of usage. I also usually do small re-adjustements every time I put any backpack on and never had any of my backpack's straps fixed for life. For reference: I'm 5'9" (175cm) and was using L size. Fits perfect. I didn't weight the load, but, as we had a winter overnight hike, I had way more stuff then usually I have in summer, including snow shoes, avalanche shovel, half of really heavy winter tent, sleeping bag, air mat and z-mat, two pots and multiple layers of clothes. Everything fit into this perfect pack. I had some space left if I want to add more. tldr; it's a perfect pack. Bravo Decathlon! you made it again

Very good

carried this on 3d2n hike in japan, walking around 3 hrs from point to point over hilly and flatter terrain, up and down buses. it was enough to carry all the clothes and gear i needed over those couple of days. as someone shorter and not terribly strong, this was a comfortable size and weight. will recommend!

I used this bag…

I used this bag for a 1 month trip to the Philippines. Very good carrying comfort. The opening allows access without taking everything out of the bag. The rain cover is very useful to protect the bag in certain transport. No worries in hand luggage on regular flights. (

Practical bag

Bag recommended by a saleswoman for my multi-day hike. You can put the essentials in it without hurting your back. Too bad you can't tighten it more because for thin people it's just a bit too big but it still works.

This is my first hiking bag and I'm very happy with this purchase. There's a lot of storage and comfortable to use. I can easily access my things with side pockets and the back support is very good.

10-year guarantee

We consider resistance to rubbing as very important. The heavy clothing R&D department, a Quechua partner for the research and validation of its components and assemblies, performs tests (on components, seams and the finished product) simulating the ageing of backpacks. Their results allow us to guarantee the bags tested for 10 years from the purchase date shown on the receipt.

Don't throw it, fix it!

Our products will join you on your mountain walks. As you progress, they age, and some parts can get worn or break. To make repairs easier, in the InchBag accessories / hiking trekkingInch, we sell tightening buckles and chest clips that are compatible with your bag. Don ftt throw away, repair !

What differences are there with the old mh500 bag?

The back of this new bag has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the damp back effect. This net used for the back, called mesh, is also softer than previously. What's more, this new model comes in 2 sizes for small and large sizes. The 2 hip pockets are more spacious and stretchy and access to flask on the sides is easier.

Which size should i choose?

During several field test sessions with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 litres, the difference in comfort was mainly down to the back height of the bag. We therefore offer all our models in 2 sizes to meet these requirements. If you are taller than 170 cm, go for size L. If you are shorter than 170 cm, you will be better off with a size S.

Hydration

This bag can hold 1 litre, 2 litre or 3 litre pockets. However, although the pocket is voluminous, it will take up place that could be used for storing other belongings. The side pockets are designed for flasks of maximum 1 litre.

Why are our rain covers orange?

This is a deliberate choice as we believe it's important to stay visible in the mountains, even in fog, in case of any problem. This orange colour has the advantage of being visible from a helicopter. It's also a visible colour on the road if you use your bag when cycling.

Hand luggage

When you are travelling by plane, the authorised hand luggage size is 55x35x25cm3 maximum (warning, this can vary depending on the airline). This bag can be used as hand luggage, so long as you don't load the top too much.

How to pack my backpack?

AT THE BOTTOM of the bag, pack your sleeping material, and heavy material nearer the back. Slide your water pocket into the compartment.AT THE TOP of the bag, store your waterproof jacket and fleece within arm’s reach. In the pockets, you can put your sun cream, maps, cap and sunglasses. Cereal bars or your mobile phone can be stored in the belt pockets for quick access. The straps under the bag can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How do i adjust my backpack?

1 - Loosen all the straps: shoulder straps, belt, load-adjuster straps (these are the small straps above the shoulder straps)2 - Put on the bag. 3 - Close the bag's belt, positioning it at the hips then tighten it until it feels firmly in place 4 - Tighten the bag’s shoulder straps 5 - Tighten the chest strap (not too tight to affect breathing)6 - Adjust the load-adjuster straps (the bag will cling closely to the shoulders)
