Warm and light

Very light and warm jacket. When you see it so light it doesn't seem like it will keep you warm, but it's deceiving. I use it every day and it works very well.

Jacket

I've been using it on the street and for hiking for 2 months. It has withstood stormy winds better than expected, and it's good for me that it doesn't have a hood. (For me, hiking is so comfortable that I add a hat and a scarf that are appropriate for the weather, my shell jacket has a hood and I like that it can be folded into the collar.) It's warmer than expected, I didn't have to wear an undershirt. It can be folded small so it takes up little space in the backpack. This comes with the compromise that the outer material is thin, it might be torn by a thorn or sharp stone. I fell in it once but there is no trace of it. For this reason, I will buy a repair patch before the next hike. I think the price/value ratio is good.

I'm using it a lot

I bought it as a warm garment for the mountains, but the truth is that I'm using it a lot to go out in the city. It's very comfortable, and very light, it has a nice design, and it keeps you reasonably warm. I haven't used it in the mountains yet, but I hope to be able to do so this winter.

Good

Very good vest

Forclaz down jacket MT500

Unfortunately, it didn't fit me, I'll return it as soon as I have time. The neck bothers me because it bends in if it's not pulled up all the way and gets stuck in my chin. Also, it's too hot for me and doesn't ventilate. The arms are too short in my opinion. Feathers started coming out of it right at the beginning.

It's a shame it doesn't have a hood.

Disappointed

Worn for 1 hour and the filling is already leaking through a hole. The store where we made the purchase refused to exchange it for us. We are very disappointed.

Good jacket

It is comfortable, warm and looks good. It is not recommended for those with a larger waist due to its cut.

Comfort and lightness.

Good purchase. Practical and warm clothing, good freedom of movement. No bibindum effect.

Great down jacket

Great for its protection from the cold and rain but also its 3 pockets closed with a zipper

Nice color! Regret…

Additional Product Information

Composition

Filling: 90.0% Grey Duck Down, 10.0% Grey Duck Feather ; Lining: 100.0% Polyamide ; Main fabric: 100.0% Polyester

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -10°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. Its comfort temperature is 0°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 660 CUIN (international standard) or over.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it during prolonged exposure to the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, but this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

A snag? this is how to repair your down jacket

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
