I am excited about…

I am enthusiastic about this backpack that I have been using on the GR 34 for 10 days now, it is good in every way, I have seen some comments saying that the straps were too long, that the pockets were not practical, this and that, the gloomy minds should calm down because it is great value for money and I know what I am talking about, I had another Osprey atmos 65 bag at €250, which was no better except perhaps for the carrying comfort but at 2.5 kg instead of 1.3 kg. So bravo to the designers.

The backpack looks well made. It is relatively light and pleasant on the back. Pockets and various compartments for drinks, etc.. are well thought out and practical. I haven't used enough to be able to evaluate the durability, but I believe it will be good :)

The poor waterproof lining, and hard to pack

it is a lightweight, but, also it is hard to access to, overall, and all the strings are not as good as the other models' straps. The Main compartment is shallow (see the side view of the male model) and, the side pockets are limited to a wide flat stuff only. I am tempted to look at more easy-to-organize & access to type of bags even it is slightly heavier. And, the inside lining (silicon-like) is peeling off inside, especially where it is at the frames. The only pro comment is it fits the body (dispersed weight on the back) better than the other models from Decathlon.

Very good value for money

Very good bag for the price quite light spacious

Tested 30 days on HRP in 2024

Well thought out and comfortable bag. I particularly appreciated the double zip which allows access to the entire bag quite easily. The only downside: after 28 days, the attachment of the small grey strap which keeps the top of the compartment closed once it is tightened and "rolled" tore (normal use however). I was able to finish without it breaking completely but it will need repair. The square of fabric sewn to hold this attachment is much too "light".

Good trekking bag

Hello I bought this bag to do the GR20 in 2022 and it did the job very well. I was looking for a light, functional and well thought out bag. The compartmentalization is good: - I appreciate the large volume and the possibility of being able to open everything thanks to the large zip. - The top hat pocket is also practical, be careful not to fill it too much. On the other hand, it is a little complicated to remove it - The hooks for the poles are also well thought out - I appreciate the pockets at the hips to put my phone in and be able to look at the GPS track and take photos quickly. - The side pockets are ok for storing things, toiletry bag, towels, bottles etc ... However the wires get tangled and the hooks can break. - The water pocket works well too. - The bag seems quite wide at the bottom when the side pockets are full Apart from that the blue look with yellow details is pretty and works. - The straps are comfortable in the long run. I use it for treks and also as a travel bag for the train. After more than 2 years of use I recommend the product. Thank you to the team of designers and engineers at Decathlon

It makes a noise with every step

With every step he makes a noise at the level of his back and after a while it becomes annoying

Does what it's supposed to!

You shouldn't forget that you're buying a backpack for 150 euros and for that it's more than perfect. Of course it needs some work and the weight of 1.3kg isn't that ultra light either, but that's not the point. You're buying a really well-made large backpack that's easily enough for a 2-3 day tour and is also very comfortable. There's little about the backpack that I don't like. I've packed it with a 3-person tent, lots of cooking utensils and a chair, a huge mattress, etc. (with everything and water, all in all around 11kg) and it's extremely comfortable to carry. I've also packed it with around 20kg, which was a bit more annoying, but it works. In summary: 10/10 backpack

I had this backpack for the crossing of the Velká Fatra, the combination of a full backpack (+-20kg) and 15-20km a day strongly penetrated my hips, which were shredded to blood by the iron skeleton of the backpack. I have a lean, athletic build, so no excess weight to help with this. Personally unusable for longer trips where you need to use the backpack to its fullest.

Perfect for long walks

I opted for this bag to go on the paths to Compostela, 2500km to go. Load excluding supplies 12kg, I often put the weight around 15 (sometimes more). The bag is given for a limit of 12kg, beyond that it remains quite comfortable even for walks of 8 hours or more.

An excellent bag!…

An excellent bag! Its big strong point in my opinion is its exterior pockets which are huge and which allow you to store an extraordinary amount of things! Worn for 5 days at more than 15kg all inclusive, no pain.

an incredible bag in every way

positive point: - comfortable - beautiful - well assembled - quality materials negative points: the bag is sold as ultralight whereas it is just light for those who are interested the simond brand which takes over from forclaz at decathlon are going to release a bag this time really ultralight. So if you're looking for a light and versatile bag, go for it, but if the weight is very important to you, wait a bit for Simond's ultralight bag.

Very practical bag

Very practical quality bag, small downside on the location of the camel bag which could be improved. Otherwise great product, no risk of losing objects even if there are no closures everywhere but very practical to use

Air design

Inspired by its sister, the MT500 AIR, this bag replicates many of the features of its ventilated back structure with a mesh fabric so that the back can breathe more and dry quickly.

Capacity

50 L volume +10 L extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in litres, with a margin of error of just a few %.

How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

How to use the multi-use straps?

The new MT500 AIR and MT900 UL series of trekking backpacks have two straps with open aluminium buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this or detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.

Complementary accessories

To make your MT900 UL bag easier to use, check out our storage accessories, repair buckles or hanging straps on our website.

Recommended carry weight

According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 12 kg. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.

Materials

Main fabric in 100D RS polyamide (ripstop = additional resistance to tearing), reinforced bag bottom (210D RS)

Product testing

All our backpacks are field-tested by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. In particular, our Test Missions bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with DECATHLON to test, improve and validate the products. This particular model was tested over a five-week period by trekkers in the Canaries, Pyrenees and the Mont-Blanc mountain range.
