Good

very good bag for day hiking

I bought this bag to replace the NH Arpenaz 500, because this one is really more comfortable, the net system for the back is much more effective than the usual "cushions". Easy adjustments, the J opening allowing you to take equipment from the bottom of the bag without opening the top is a good idea.

Alright

Used for the Piton des Neiges D+ 1700, comfortable, practical. You sweat a little less from the back than with the others even if it is not yet perfect

Good bag

I like the multiple pockets and the carrying comfort. However, I find the capacity a little limited.

Very light, very very…

Very light, very very well adapted to the morphology, pleasant to wear. Used for hiking as well as for walking quite simply...

Very poorly cut main compartment

I had to buy the backpack at short notice because the planned hut tour will take place in bad weather and therefore more luggage needs to be taken with me and the originally planned 20 L backpack is too small. So I went for a cheaper version. Even in the shop, the shape of the main compartment seemed strange to me, as two 3 kg weight bags could hardly be put into the main compartment without using force. I then decided on this backpack due to lack of time and immediately regretted my decision when I got home. Due to the unfavorable cut, hardly more fits in the backpack than in my originally planned 20 L backpack. This is probably due to the curved back section, which is intended to provide ventilation. An unpleasant side effect is unfortunately the poor wearing comfort, as the center of gravity is further away from you than with an "unventilated" backpack. Although I have not yet tested it on a tour, these two points have already struck me as so negative that I advise against buying it. I also tried on the Osprey Spprtlite 30 in another shop, but it costs twice as much. However, I think that it is definitely better to go this way. If you buy cheap, you buy twice.

Very good backpack for going to the mountains

Excellent, good quality and good support so that the back does not suffer with the weight.

Good but…

Good backpack because it is very functional, lots of pockets and compartments for storage with an opening on the side to grab things located at the bottom of the bag which avoids having to remove everything, but the big black point is that it is not at all suitable for a 1 liter water bottle!!! Too bad. !!!

Tested in high mountains

Nice, quality price ok for walking in the woods, low mountains but problems as soon as I wear my helmet. Impossible to raise my head without the helmet being hit by the rigid structure of the bag ... And not looking up in the mountains quickly becomes complicated ... Missing a few simple hooks / straps outside the bag to attach a few utensils so as not to have to necessarily put everything inside. (Carabiner, strap, rope, helmet, kwai, ...)

10-year guarantee

We take care over abrasion resistance to make your bag durable. The heavy clothing R&D department, a Quechua partner for the research and validation of its components and assemblies, performs tests (on components, seams and the finished product) simulating the ageing of backpacks. Their results allow us to guarantee the bags tested for 10 years from the purchase date shown on the receipt.

Don't throw it, fix it!

Our products will join you on your mountain walks. As you progress, they age, and some parts can get worn or break. To make repairs easier, in the InchBag accessories / hiking trekkingInch, we sell tightening buckles and chest clips that are compatible with your bag. Don ftt throw away, repair !

What differences are there with the old mh500 bag?

The back of this new bag has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the damp back effect. This net used for the back, called mesh, is also softer than previously. What's more, this new model comes in 2 sizes for small and large sizes. The 2 hip pockets are more spacious and stretchy and access to flask on the sides is easier.

Why 2 sizes?

During several field test sessions with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 litres, the difference in comfort was mainly linked to the back height of the bag: someone with a small frame feels better with a bag that doesn't have a very big back, and someone with a big frame with a larger back. We therefore offer all our models in 2 sizes to meet these requirements.

Hydration

This bag can hold 1 litre, 2 litre or 3 litre pockets. However, although the pocket is voluminous, it will take up place that could be used for storing other belongings. The side pockets are designed for flasks of maximum 1 litre.

Why are our rain covers orange?

This is a deliberate choice as we believe it's important to stay visible in the mountains, even in fog, in case of any problem. This orange colour has the advantage of being visible from a helicopter. It's also a visible colour on the road if you use your bag when cycling.

Hand luggage

When you are travelling by plane, the authorised hand luggage size is 55x35x25cm3 maximum (warning, this can vary depending on the airline). This bag can be used as hand luggage, so long as you don't load the top too much.

How to pack my backpack?

AT THE BOTTOM of the bag, pack your sleeping material, and heavy material nearer the back. Slide your water pocket into the compartment.AT THE TOP of the bag, store your waterproof jacket and fleece within arm’s reach. In the pockets, you can put your sun cream, maps, cap and sunglasses. Cereal bars or your mobile phone can be stored in the belt pockets for quick access. The straps under the bag can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How do i adjust my backpack?

1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, hip belt, load adjuster straps). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - As this bag is small in volume, put the belt around the waist and tighten it. 4 -Tighten the shoulder straps. 5 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.

Product testing

Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. It brings together 4 themes, each with their own area and technological tools:Morphology (especially thanks to the 3D analysis)Movement sciencesThermal comfort (with its four climatic chambers)Behavioral and sensory sciences+ we describe the specific aspects of the test related to the product (e.g. shower, wind tunnel, etc.)

Storage instructions
