I had my stick set up wrong last time

great stick

Ideal poles for multiple activities

Quick to assemble and disassemble, lightweight and doesn't take up much space, sturdy in the field

The stick got bent

I only weigh 65kg for 1m70 and yet the pole twisted on the first outing. The pole no longer folds. In addition, I found that the handle was slippery and created a feeling of sweating in the hand. Disappointed with the quality of the product

Good folding cane

My favourite walking stick since I bought it 2 years ago. Very comfortable and quick to set up, without having to readjust its height every time, since you don't have to move the buckle to take it down. Good in winter and summer. It's light and very stable. Its weakest points: the tip is not very durable and a little annoying because of the seam on the strap. I find its grip very comfortable and versatile. The strap is easy to adjust. However, a seam on the strap causes chafing and I end up with a blister on outings of more than 7 hours. One of my tips broke a month ago (the little metal tip came out). It's the first time this has happened to me in two decades of using walking sticks. And now it turns out that the replacement part is out of stock. The entire tip needs to be replaced: black plastic and metal. The new generation comes with a screw-on metal tip in order to change it more easily and without having to change the plastic that holds it. I fear that there will no longer be tips for the previous generation and my walking stick will be useless.

Awesome

Very good, light and very practical stick, I recommend it

I bought this product in the fall of 2024. I tested it in very cold weather (with the snow baskets). The product behaves well, the clips hold and you can unfold and fold it without having to remove your gloves. It is solid (also tested on trails without snow). I appreciate that you can buy one at a time, especially if you break it during a fall, for example. The only downside is that the strap is not long enough to hold the lower part of the handle while keeping your hand inside. The strap is useful when climbing while you have to shorten the length of the pole by taking the lower part of the handle; the strap protects the muscles and fine joints of the hand.

Easy stick for the…

Easy to carry stick, foldable into 3 pieces. Pleasant to start using, effective to see in use.

trekking poles

Very sturdy trekking poles, perhaps a little too bulky when closed.

Very Flimsy

Bought it in Dec 2024, and used it for first trek to Chokramudi peak and on the way back the connecting tube snapped. Had it been a longer trek would have placed the trekker in very bad situation not just the loss of money. Quality of products are going down since last 2 years

great

Like every high-end item from Decathlon, best value for money. Quality largely as good as big brand products at half the price.

Folding

I love them! They take up little space because they are foldable, super light

The deployment system…

The deployment system is not instinctive the first time. The explanatory label is not very explicit. Too bad the rubber tips are not included in the kit. It is not so much for the price as to think about buying them.

Evaluation

It provides a good, stable hold, is easy to transport, and has an excellent handle.

Noisy and strap loosens

I have only used my two poles 3 times for short hikes (approx. 8 km each) and I find 2 main faults. The first fault is that the poles are noisy. A sort of constant clanking every time they touch the ground (hard surface in particular: asphalt, stones, rocks, etc., but also on paths under the woods) and this even with the added tips provided for this purpose. It quickly becomes annoying when you want to enjoy nature. The second fault is that the straps really don't hold well! You have to constantly readjust the velcro because the clip that is supposed to keep the straps tight in the handle does not do its job. As a result, less grip on the pole, which makes any possible sports walk complicated. The good side? The significant space saving, because the 2 poles fit in a hydration bag. It's great. And the adjustment of the poles, which allows several people of different sizes to use them.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

How it was designed...

Fully designed and validated by our team at the foot of Mont Blanc, a team with enthusiastic and demanding trekkers, during legendary treks: Mont Blanc, Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Tenerife. The pole’s durability has also been tested by a 550 km mission test in the Canaries and the Pyrenees (GR10).

Why have we worked hard on durability?

You trek to enjoy the calm of great expanses which sometimes takes you far from civilization. You also carry your belongings for several days. Therefore, you need to rely on the resistance of your poles. We have selected wider tubes in the highest grade aluminum. We have secured the push-pin area with internal reinforcement. Compression test results (pressure on the pole axis) show that this model can therefore support 560 N (~56 kg) per pole.

Why have we focused on compactness?

To get to your trek you will sometimes have to take transport. You will also have to carry all your equipment in your bag. It’s therefore much more practical to have compact poles. Once collapsed, these poles fit in the side pocket of your trekking backpack.

How did we design this handle?

We favoured EVA foam, soft material, perfect for handling perspiration and resisting tears. We added a long grip underneath the handle for a lower hold uphill and on banking terrain. The knob is the most comfortable in the range with its long, rounded shape and soft material. It provides good grip from above. Finally, we designed the wrist-strap without extra thickness and few seams to avoid blisters.

How to adjust your poles to the correct length?

To use the pole: firstly, extend the pole until the “click” of the push-pin. Refer to the instructions attached to the pole.To adjust the length: Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. - open the outer lever- slide the tube to the desired length- close the leverNever go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.

Directions for use

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to slide down, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.

Care tips

Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.

Why is the pole sold individually?

At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.

Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model

The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Summer baskets : ref. 8737774Winter baskets: ref. 8503857

Product testing

To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Storage instructions

Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
