The waterproofness of a jacket isn't just about its materials; the assembly technique also plays a crucial role. Whether heat-sealed or sewn and then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness is assessed using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates various intensities of rain. This waterproof jacket is designed to protect you from light rain, equivalent to 1.2 inches (3 cm) of rain in 30 minutes.

The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm H²O (the pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) that is resistant to 5,000 mm H²O (Schmerbers) before washing.

Your jacket is waterproof thanks to its taped main seams. Waterproof tape is applied to the seams inside the garment to ensure they are watertight, preventing water from seeping through the more vulnerable areas. We validated the waterproofing with a shower test designed to replicate the conditions of a 30-minute shower. Additionally, we tested it in various weather conditions to ensure it meets the demands of your activities.
