Product Customer Reviews
Used 3 times, happy with the product.
I bought this jacket a month and a half ago and I use it occasionally in the city. After only 30-40 minutes in normal rain, not torrential, the water passes through and the down jacket starts to get waterlogged! For a jacket intended for hiking or heavy rain, I find this really unfortunate. I am very disappointed.
Rainwater doesn't seep in at all👍 awesome
I recommend!
EXCELLENT PRODUCT
Blown away by value
Used for hiking and cycling and protects perfectly from the rain
It does its job very well: excellent in the rain and protects very well from the wind. The side zips are convenient for letting air in when needed. The pockets (internal and external) are very large, perfect for storing items such as gloves, a hat, etc. It is light but not too much: it was not easy to fold it and put it in the backpack. The black color makes it a little too anonymous and not very visible.
This k-way meets my expectations and is as described. I recommend it!
Equivalent to a very high-end brand jacket (North Face, Millet, Arcteryx, etc.) but two to three times cheaper
If the goal is to protect against getting wet, cool temperatures, this is the optimal solution. The seams are well-made, moisture does not penetrate from the outside.
1.75 75kg I had to take an L because it is very tight and the sleeves are a bit long, otherwise perfect
Many hours of cycling in heavy rain and the jacket proved to be perfect, comfortable, light, waterproof.
A comfortable raincoat proved useful in the mountains during rain.
Excellent shell for value for money, right compromise waterproofing/breathability. Maybe a little heavy and not very packable for a small backpack for the rest it has everything you need

Main component
3-layer component with membrane
Membrane
The waterproof rating of a product depends on the following two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was made with a membrane. This is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight and breathable.
Layer design
3 layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable and high-performing jackets
Component waterproofing
Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. To this end, the resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm (JIS 1092 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This product's component has a 25,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 25,000 mm water column. This is also equivalent to 25000 Schmerbers.
Water resistance of the jacket
We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios in order to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 18 cm of rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.
Breathability
Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabricRET ≤ 12: breathable fabricRET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product was assessed at 6 RET
How to restore the water-repellent properties
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. The fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. The water-repellent property can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use the waterproof spray (ref 8554908)
Product testing
Our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory, based in Lille, also contributes to the innovation and development of our Quechua products. As well as numerous field tests, we test products in a laboratory according to the desired properties (e.g.: shower test for waterproofness, wind tunnel test for windproof properties, etc.).
