Main fabric: 87.0% Polyester, 13.0% Elastane ; Back of the hand: 100.0% Polyester ; Yoke: 100.0% Polyamide ; Coating: 100.0% Polyurethane
How is usage temperature measured?
All our gloves undergo laboratory testing on a thermal hand. The recommended and limit temperatures are determined through a study with 23 testers exposed to temperatures from 5°C to -20°C with 10 km/h winds. These ratings apply specifically to walking conditions. The MT500 gloves have a warmth rating of 1 out of 5:Recommended temperature: 46°F (8°C)Limit temperature: 37°F (3°C)
How to properly protect your hands from the cold
Just like layering clothing for trekking, you can wear liner gloves under your main gloves to create a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system traps layers of air, providing effective insulation against the cold. For maximum warmth, choose gloves with enough room to avoid compression, as tight gloves can restrict blood circulation and make your fingers feel colder.
How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing
When you're active, your body generates heat, which is retained by thermal insulation in your clothing. If your clothing isn’t warm enough, your body prioritizes keeping your core warm by reducing blood flow to your hands and feet, making them colder. Wearing properly insulated clothing can help maintain warmth in your hands by supporting overall body heat retention.
What is the dexterity of a glove?
Dexterity refers to a glove’s ability to handle objects with precision. Our Trek 500 gloves have been laboratory tested and rated for dexterity, with a score closer to 5 indicating performance similar to a bare hand.Tests included tasks like zipping a jacket, handling gear at a bivouac, and eating or drinking while wearing the gloves. The Trek 500 gloves received a dexterity rating of 4 out of 5, ensuring excellent usability in outdoor conditions.
Have your gloves gotten wet?
If your gloves get wet, dry them in a well-ventilated area, but avoid direct heat sources. Excessive heat can damage the fibers and alter their shape!
Product testing
Our design team is based at the foot of Mont Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, our designers create and develop products that are appealing, simple, and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field because we believe that the only way to continually improve is to test the products under the real-life conditions that you will experience.
