Return clearance and tire assembly

for info and a little personal feedback! WTB 700x42 Resolute tires fit without any problems. I just fitted 700x45 Hutchinson Tuareg tires and it fits but you can't get any bigger and without studs (45mm Tundras are dead)!

Great bike, I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to switch from MTB to something more fun! :)

Small mistakes for an actually solid bike

I bought the Triban 520 to see if a racing bike was for me, as I had always ridden a mountain bike before. The Triban came in handy because it has solid gears and you can return it to Decathlon if necessary. Unfortunately, none of the three branches here had the bike, only the cheaper versions. Ordering in store, but home delivery is free, saving on postage. I didn't know that and was only told after several visits. The bike came packaged, like all bikes, with all the accessories included. It is pre-assembled and includes tools and a torque wrench (that's cool, but no one in the branch knows why I bought one separately). There were a few problems when assembling it, mostly due to my incompetence. The handlebar tape was also torn during transport. The branch replaced it and then assembled it without any costs or discussions. When transporting and removing and inserting the front tire, the brake disc/brake shoes were always rubbing. It was only repaired after 4 visits to the shop. As with other reports, the front tube burst after about 30-50km. I had been waiting for this. The tire was intact and since a new one was put in it has held up (for at least 6 months). I can't understand that!! The next problem is the gears, it is a Shimano 105 which actually does everything really well on the rear part. Shifts smoothly and quickly. You can tell the quality. But there is a crank from Praxis installed at the front. My chain regularly came off here. Whether on an uphill or flat. Decathlon couldn't fix that either, but a bike workshop managed to fix it. It required more adjustment than the "normal" person could probably do. Otherwise there were no other problems. The brakes work well so far, and the lock for transport using a small attached pin is nice. Sometimes they squeak a bit or need more force, but you are still safe. All in all, you have to think about what you want and where the price comes from. It's a solid bike, especially for beginners or people who want to get into it. I've had some nice rides with it. Color is a matter of taste, but I couldn't find any damage here and gave positive feedback on the color. Apart from the problem with the tube, everything was actually doable, the gears were OK, but can be fixed quickly and cheaply in a specialist shop. So I would recommend the bike itself if you have a few euros to spare. I still like riding it, even if I now want a different one for training.

Correct bike to start Gravel

First prize to get started in Gravel or touring bike without overinvesting. Be careful, this is not a bike that is positioned on performance but rather robustness and simplicity. The only downside on delivery was that the bike was poorly adjusted and the front wheel was warped. I had to have this last detail repaired at my own expense.

GRVL 520 size M - Perfect except the tires

Bike purchased in January 2024. The preparation carried out by the Arras store, as well as their welcome, were really great. I do two to three outings per week (20 to 80 km) on 70% road, 30% gravel path in all weathers. The bike is very good. I am very happy with it. It is very pleasant, rides very well on road and path (the much-maligned wheels are not "anvils" at all). I changed the saddle because the original one was really too uncomfortable even with shorts. The brakes are good, I took the time to break them in during the first outings and even when it is wet and muddy, they brake superbly well and never squeak. I have not had any mechanical problems. I just have to adjust the derailleurs (which by the way are a pure marvel) front and rear quite often so that the settings are at the top and the gears do not jump (about every five outings). The only real criticism I would make is the tires. The Tuaregs puncture from fear (once every three outings... minimum). The configuration is often the same, mud remains in the notches. Thorns, pieces of wood, small sharp gravel are caught in this mud and end up puncturing the tire (I have the problem on the front and rear tires). I take the same paths with the Decathlon single speed in the same conditions of use. With the road tires of the single speed, I have never punctured. Could you recommend other tires because it is really very frustrating. Without this problem, this bike would be perfect.

Rather average, and several problems encountered.

Hello, Context. I have had this bike for 2 years, and have covered 3000 km. Practical: 30 to 65 km per outing, banks of the Marne and a tiny bit of climbing, 70% tarmac / concrete, 30% gravel / dirt. Purchase. I bought it online. It arrived quickly. It was perfect. The assembly went well, even very well. Problems. Brakes: the brakes were not adjusted at the start. Tires - tube and company. revisions: there were 4 punctures. When I wanted to switch to tubeless, I went to the store 3 times, with different opinions each time, all this to end up with a return to an inner tube. But with the tubeless liquid, the tube was stuck to the tire when changing the tube following a puncture. I recently switched to Schwalbe Marathon + tires, perfect for my practice. Other: a broken spoke, the saddle that does not stay adjusted (I think I will change it soon). Price: the bike, paid €1200, then went up to €1000, then went up to €1200. I would have liked to have benefited from a €200 refund when it was at €1000. At the same price there are slightly better products. For the future... For maintenance (cassette in particular), I think I will change stores. For my future bike, I am almost sure to buy elsewhere. In the meantime... That being said, I enjoy riding. Frank.

Good entry level

Good bike for an entry level. Too bad however that on delivery, the brake adjustment is not checked, and you have to come to the workshop to uncover the discs ...

Repeated punctures, a real disappointment

I am disappointed with the reliability of the bike, mainly because of the repeated punctures: 4 in 4 months, or one per month. The most frustrating is when I go out in a group and I am the only one to have a puncture, which ruins the experience for everyone by cutting the ride short. The worst was during a 150 km bikepacking, which was supposed to be a great adventure, but which quickly turned into a nightmare: once again, I was the only one in the group to have a puncture. After repairing it with a patch, I no longer had the same pressure in the tire, and the remaining 6 hours turned into a real ordeal, I was literally dragging a dead weight. I have punctured on different types of journeys, even on the way to work, where a puncture in the middle made me arrive super late. Apart from that, the bike is pleasant to handle, with comfortable handlebars and a saddle that allows you to ride for several hours without pain. On the other hand, with all these punctures, I find the bike unreliable, especially for the price. Every time I go out, I constantly fear another puncture, and it really spoils the experience.

interesting bike, but adjustment…

interesting bike, but adjustment by the average shop. On arrival no adjustment, 2 visits to the workshop on D0 then another visit on D15.!!!

excellent value for money

very satisfied with my purchase. it's a very good value for money. The bike is well balanced and behaves very well in gravel. small downside linked in my opinion to the price, the tires are not great and consume a lot of energy. I replaced them with michelin power gravel in 35. Performance assured. I also changed the front crown, I mounted a 42 tooth instead of the 48 tooth which is too demanding for amateur Gravel. This also improves performance. of course, automatic pedals
