About this item:
- This backpack is made for multiple days hiking or trekking in autonomy. You can carry everything you need to camp, drink and eat on your back with comfort.
- The MT500 AIR only weighs 3.7 lbs and can contain a total volume of 50 liters which we recommend for a trip over 2 weeks long. The top of the bag is adjustable and can hold an extral 10 liters of volume.

The bag has a 60 L volume with an extra 10 L extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in litres, with a margin of error of just a few %. The torso length is adjustable between 16 inches (40 cm) and 21 inches (53 cm), and the waistband adjusts from 31 inches (79 cm) to 54 inches (136 cm). Excellent backpack, very comfortable, doesn't get too hot, very sturdy. Very pretty, I highly recommend it, I used it on treks of more than 7 days, it's really very pleasant and you can dry your laundry on it without any problem.
The MT500 Air is an excellent backpack because it has several compartments, height adjustments and is very light. Every trek I go on it is with me and it does its job very well. I highly recommend it!
Very functional and useful
It is ideal for long or short camping trips.
A well-made backpack with enough compartments and a light weight for its capacity. I liked the front opening system, which allows you to see what you're carrying in the backpack from top to bottom. I've comfortably carried my snowshoes or cross-country skis on the side straps without any discomfort. It has a hydration system as well as a side bottle holder that allows you to drink without having to remove the backpack. In the opposite pocket, you can carry gloves. Two pockets at the waist for carrying small hiking gear—cell phone, knife, drops for disinfecting river water, etc.—one of my best purchases.
I rode it for about 350 km on the Via Transilvanica and I can say the following: - it would have been useful to have more external pockets; - after several days the lower corners of the resistance frame create pain and swelling when in contact with the pelvic bones. The sponge cushion should have been doubled somehow.
The weight of the bag is quite low. The volume of 60 l is ideal for a 3.4 day hike. Ergonomics at a high level. Easily adjustable shoulder straps according to height. An additional pocket for a water bottle on the side of the bag interferes with walking with poles. The second belt of the bag is missing. The lower part of the bag could be made of a denser material.

backpack very easy to access and load. The compartmentalization is easy, the large opening on the front is super easy to adjust and very comfortable to wear even when fully loaded
Top Buy
Really practical to use, well thought out. Good accessibility to the main pocket, very good carrying comfort, lots of adjustments. The only flaw in my eyes is that the location of the water bottle is very practical, but if you walk with poles, your water bottle may hinder your movements by being in the way.

Air design
As with the MT900 UL line, the MT500 AIR range has a ventilated back structure with mesh fabric (net fabric) that helps the back to breathe and dries quickly. Rigidity is guaranteed by a reinforced frame. The back is adjustable with a release strap that’s easy and quick to use.

Recommended carry weight
According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 15 kg. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.
How to pack a backpack?
Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.
How to use the multi-use straps?
The new range of MT500 AIR and MT900 UL bags has two straps with open aluminium buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this or detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.
