Nice lightweight winter coat.

Nice lightweight jacket for when it is chilly outside. Especially suitable down to 0 degrees. Not really suitable in the rain.

Jacket up to -10

It met my expectations, lightweight, compact, warm, sometimes I lose a feather, but otherwise the cut is fine, everything is as it should be. The price is adequate. For me 9/10

We have all three variants of down jackets from Decathlon in our family. The MT900 is very warm, even in -10C I can wear just a T-shirt underneath for a walk with the dog, but I don't wear it for longer or more intense walks, it's too warm for that. The MT100 - we have the most of those, a perfect jacket for everyday wear in spring, autumn, winter, but also in summer for evenings in the mountains. And now we have also bought the MT500 - when layering, a T-shirt, a thin fleece sweatshirt and the MT500 is usable for walking at a leisurely pace in -5C in snowfall, it's already hot in it uphill, it's not cold when standing for a while. The material of the jacket is not water-repellent and neither is the down - AFAIK - it has a water-repellent finish, for snow and rain you need to combine it with a vapor-permeable and waterproof windbreaker. I also use the MT100 as an auxiliary "quilt" inside the sleeping bag, I plan to use the MT500 in colder conditions. My wife complains that the women's version of the MT500 has ugly cold colors. She says you should make a warm green or orange, natural shades. That the colors for men are nicer. "Not every woman wants to wear cold pink or purple." Personally, I would make the sleeves of the down jackets (MT100, 500 and 900) about 3-5 cm longer, so that you can "pull" your hands into the sleeves without creating tension on your shoulders. Otherwise, in terms of performance-price ratio, these jackets have no competition.

Excellent

Warm, comfortable,

Excellent down jacket, value for money, aesthetically pleasing but above all it keeps its promises of -10 degrees. I use it for trekking breaks, comfortable in its bag that takes up little space! Compared to the most famous brands, it is also superior, especially in price!

A good choice at a reasonable price (on sale)

I bought it for 299 PLN and at first I was skeptical - light, thin. I started wearing it and it's really a bullseye for me, I rarely get cold, so I don't need a ton of clothes on me, this one is really nice. Unfortunately I tore it on a protruding wire and now I've ordered another one for 350 - I see that the color of the zippers has changed from orange to black. I hope the rest remains the same.

good jacket at a good price

The jacket passed its first mountain trips with flying colors

With temperatures slightly below zero and strong winds, thermal comfort was great - I used it when another jacket was no longer sufficient. It is also very compact, taking up very little space in the backpack.

I recommend!

Light and warm. So far it's been working flawlessly. I recommend it!

What I was looking for

A practical garment with a design that I like and at a good price

So far I'm happy with the down jacket

This is my third Decathlon down jacket. The first one is already nine years old and it's still there, a little tighter after nine years because of my physique and not because the jacket has shrunk. The second one is seven years old and the same. The third one, this last one, is fine so far. It has more CUIN than the others, and it feels more 'inflated' and therefore it will retain more body heat. It has more details than the others, such as the drawstring of the hood behind the head or the flap along the entire zipper to prevent air/cold from entering. Or also the suede or velvet-like fabric along the entire collar. The two inside pockets don't even have Velcro to prevent things from falling out. Something that I have corrected by putting two self-adhesive Velcros on them. The outer nylon, despite saying that it is protected against tears, I find it 'very soft'. I find it more delicate than in my other two jackets.

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 14°F (-10°C) during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. Its comfort temperature is 0°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.

Weight of filling

XS: 122 g S: 131 gM: 140gL: 149 gXL: 159 g2XL: 170 g3XL: 181 g4XL: 192g

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

A snag? how to repair your fleece

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. We have repair patches that you can purchase!

Product testing

4 independent Forclaz trekkers and 4 members of Forclaz tested this down jacket during 3 days of trekking in November 2021 up to 9842 ft. altitude near Chamonix in the Mont Blanc Country. The feedback given to us after this test let us validate this down jacket for mountain trekking.
