VERY GOOD PRODUCT

I recommend it, it is a very good product, quality and price. My husband has it and so do I. There must be a reason for it.

Warm, it doesn't weigh anything, it's the 4th one I've bought already, I recommend it.

Amazing jacket, in November in London I was perfectly happy wearing only a long sleeve t-shirt under the jacket. The freedom and pleasant transition from outside to inside museums 😊 Also suitable for recreational cycling. Wind or cold will not get under the jacket even by accident, everything is hidden at the neck, you feel comfortable in it, everywhere like in pyjamas ☺️

Nice and warm

I love this down jacket

I wear it all winter but be careful: It is very warm! Little chance of being cold with this very thick down jacket. If you walk with it you will quickly overheat. I still wear it to do the 2km from the station to my work, the hood protects the head and ears well, even in case of cold wind I am well protected. For the rain on the other hand you need to bring an umbrella or a poncho.

Transparency

Is it normal for the white jacket to be transparent? Or is it a manufacturing defect? You can see the padding (not really feathers) through the fabric and even the color of the clothes under the jacket (I had a red t-shirt on when trying it on). Ok, we want a light jacket but hey... still...

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -10°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. Its comfort temperature is 0°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.

How to care for a down jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Our advice: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°C, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

How to repair your fleece?

A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.

Product testing

In November 2021, 4 independent female Forclaz backpackers and 2 members of Forclaz are tested this down jacket for 3 days of backpacking up to 9842 ft. altitude near Chamonix, in the Mont Blanc Country. The feedback given to us after this test: let us validate this down jacket for backpacking in the mountains.
