Question:

Is there a sizing chart for backpacks?

Answer:

Which size should i choose? During several field test sessions with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 liters, the difference in comfort was mainly down to the back height of the bag. We therefore offer all our models in 2 sizes to meet these requirements. If you are taller than 67'', go for size L. If you are shorter than 67'', you will be better off with a size S.

Question:

Per your sizing info, if taller than 67", you recommend size large. I am 5' - 8" is 68". Shouldn't I be large size?

Answer:

We recommend a size L for you.

This backpack features a "J-shaped" zipper for unparalleled accessibility to the main compartment. This zipper configuration is crafted with your convenience in mind, ensuring that you can easily open the bag wide and access the contents effortlessly making it a breeze to retrieve or organize your belongings without any hassle. We believe this enhancement not only adds a practical touch to the bag but also contributes to an overall positive user experience. Amazing

Been using 30l version for a few years, amazingly durable, incredibly good value for money. Very comfortable on me, I’m a tall woman so have size L.

Great Bag

Great bag for a great price. I used it for a two week hike staying in hostels. It was comfortable to carry and has all the storage you’d need.

Great quality and well designed. Used on EBC trek.

I bought this backpack to use as my day pack on the Everest Base Camp trek. It carried all I needed for the day, waterproof, fleece, camera, down jacket etc. The side pockets for water are more spacious than they seem, a Nalgene bottle fits in them. The waist band pockets are ideal for lip balm, sun cream and any little bits and pieces. The zipped pocket in the top flap is incredibly useful. It felt comfortable on my back, I had no issues with any aches and pains, adjustment is easy and the shoulder straps are perfectly designed. Yes, my back got sweaty but the ventilation soon got rid of any moisture. The waterproof cover in the base is good, only issue is that it's attached so if it gets wet, it's awkward to dry but a pair of scissors sorted the problem and the cover can be hung up separately now. High quality and equal to Osprey products and at a much better price.

Competes with the big boys!

I’ve used a plethora of bergens/rucksacks over the years on military ops and latterly as a keen hiker. I went for the 30 litre version and used and abused the bag during the build up training and completion of Everest base camp last December. It behaved superbly and put up with everything thrown at it including winter Brecon and the Himalayas. A lot of thought has gone into its design and functionality but the clever angles of the water bottle carriers work extremely well. I use both the bladder and bottle. On the move using the bottle was a doddle instead of faffing about trying to reach it. The back airflow system also works a treat which helps to stop a soaking, sweaty back. A 2 litre bladder sits properly and tucks away nicely. Overall and for the money, a diamond in the rough. Great job.

Excellent bag

Great size very comfortable this is a very well thought out piece of kit but please try before you buy in the shop like I did I spent a good half an hour in store going through sizes and features this can easily take my waterproofs both tops and bottoms my lunch first aid kit hats and gloves etc a pocket for maps two hip pockets two water bottle pockets one side pocket a place for walking poles and a easy access zipp so you can grab gear from the bottom of your pack as well as a built in waterproof cover I did compare this with the thirty litre version but I decided this is more practical because of the extra ten liters the 30 ltr was just two small in my opinion

Comfortable All Day Carry

This rucksack has a really well designed frame, back system and hip belt and is a very comfortable all day carry. It is reasonably light in itself but this is less important with rucksacks than how they transfer their fully loaded weight to your body and this one is excellent at that. It has an adequate air gap for your back but with a less pronounced curve holding it away from your body than a lot of rucksacks which helps both the load transfer through the shoulders and stability. It also means the main compartment remains a nice regular boxy shape and easy to fit your kit in. The straps are easy to adjust for a good fit and don't slip. The main fabric seems quite tough and durable but the stretchy material used on some of the external pockets whilst saving weight and working well have scuffed up in one place after a bit of bushwacking. The pockets I find most useful are the top lid pocket which is really big, the large stretchy front pocket and the zipped ones on the hip belt. The slanty side water bottle pockets don't seem very secure but I can manage without them. The compression straps on the side work well and double up for carrying a sleeping mat. Sizewise it is has a noticeably bigger capacity than my 35litre rucksack, doesn't seem to hold any less than my 45litre but is a nicer more compact shape. Almost tardis like.

Excellent for hiking or as a travel bag

tested on a 4-day walk even with heavy rain and about 3500 meters of positive and negative altitude difference. transported weight 7 kg including backpack

Feedback after 3 days on the GR 223: nothing to report

Pleasantly surprised by the comfort of this bag! The storage is well thought out, especially the mesh pocket in the middle, perfect for storing your jacket, a can of water, or trash while trekking. Perfect capacity for a mattress, a sleeping bag, clothes, and a tent on top of that. The side openings of the bag are also great for retrieving things without having to take everything out. Finally, the waistband pockets are great for storing your phone on one side and a wallet on the other.

Practical and comfortable backpack, good grip on the back

I used this backpack for the last 130km of the Camino de Santiago. Comfortable backpack, with good weight distribution and perfect even for women of smaller stature like me.

The overall neutral texture is good

Great trekking backpack

Very comfortable for several-day hikes. Roomy, allows for good organization of things inside. It is very light in itself, wearing it is also very comfortable even after many hours.

10-year guarantee

We consider resistance to rubbing as very important. The heavy clothing R&D department, a Quechua partner for the research and validation of its components and assemblies, performs tests (on components, seams and the finished product) simulating the ageing of backpacks. Their results allow us to guarantee the bags tested for 10 years from the purchase date shown on the receipt.

Don't throw it, fix it!

Our products will join you on your mountain walks. As you progress, they age, and some parts can get worn or break. To make repairs easier, in the InchBag accessories / hiking trekkingInch, we sell tightening buckles and chest clips that are compatible with your bag. Don ftt throw away, repair !

What differences are there with the old mh500 bag?

The back of this new bag has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the damp back effect. This net used for the back, called mesh, is also softer than previously. What's more, this new model comes in 2 sizes for small and large sizes. The 2 hip pockets are more spacious and stretchy and access to flask on the sides is easier.

Which size should i choose?

During several field test sessions with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 litres, the difference in comfort was mainly down to the back height of the bag. We therefore offer all our models in 2 sizes to meet these requirements. If you are taller than 170 cm, go for size L. If you are shorter than 170 cm, you will be better off with a size S.

Hydration

This bag can hold 1 litre, 2 litre or 3 litre pockets. However, although the pocket is voluminous, it will take up place that could be used for storing other belongings. The side pockets are designed for flasks of maximum 1 litre.

Why are our rain covers orange?

This is a deliberate choice as we believe it's important to stay visible in the mountains, even in fog, in case of any problem. This orange colour has the advantage of being visible from a helicopter. It's also a visible colour on the road if you use your bag when cycling.

Hand luggage

When you are travelling by plane, the authorised hand luggage size is 55x35x25cm3 maximum (warning, this can vary depending on the airline). This bag can be used as hand luggage, so long as you don't load the top too much.

How to pack my backpack?

AT THE BOTTOM of the bag, pack your sleeping material, and heavy material nearer the back. Slide your water pocket into the compartment.AT THE TOP of the bag, store your waterproof jacket and fleece within arm’s reach. In the pockets, you can put your sun cream, maps, cap and sunglasses. Cereal bars or your mobile phone can be stored in the belt pockets for quick access. The straps under the bag can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How do i adjust my backpack?

1 - Loosen all the straps: shoulder straps, belt, load-adjuster straps (these are the small straps above the shoulder straps)2 - Put on the bag. 3 - Close the bag's belt, positioning it at the hips then tighten it until it feels firmly in place 4 - Tighten the bag’s shoulder straps 5 - Tighten the chest strap (not too tight to affect breathing)6 - Adjust the load-adjuster straps (the bag will cling closely to the shoulders)

It brings together 4 themes, each with their own area and technological tools:Morphology (especially thanks to the 3D analysis)Movement sciencesThermal comfort (with its four climatic chambers)Behavioral and sensory sciences+ we describe the specific aspects of the test related to the product (e.g. shower, wind tunnel, etc.)
