Questions & Answers

Look for product information, frequently asked questions, opinions...

Question:

Im 5ft 8in how do i chose between small and medium size?

Answer:

Depending on your style of riding, you can choose between the 2 different sizes. I would recommend : - S if you want the bike to be lighter, a more aggressive position (Stack is lower, so your body position will be leaning more forward). - M if you want a more comfortable position, stack is higher and you can keep a similar reach (7mm difference with S) by moving forward the saddle slightly Overall, it also depends on your morphology, if you tend to be 5ft 8 with longer legs, I would recommend the M.

A very good bike for entering the world of "road".

Bike bought in 2022 for PLN 5499. Being 193cm tall and 83kg (I have long legs and arms, but I wear "M" undershirts), I bought frame size L, because that was the only one available at the time. After doing my own bike fitting, the size doesn't bother me, I have the bike set up well and nothing hurts - I don't lack gears or centimeters in the frame. However, if I could turn back time and had a choice, then yes - I would take XL. I would like to immediately correct the mistake that appears here. The bike IS NOT on a full Shimano 105 group. The rear cassette is Microshift and the chain is no-name. But does it bother you? No. A different cassette and chain are not noticeable when riding, and a potential replacement of the cassette and chain to have a full 105 group (I replaced it after 2 full seasons of riding on the default set) costs less than PLN 300. Despite the aluminum, the bike is light, comfortable, has good quality wheels and tires. You can race on it and we will not stand out from other - initial models on carbon. This year I rode the Tour de Pologne AmatorĂłw in Karpacz and did not finish last, and the difference compared to the basic models on carbon was not noticeable. Buying this bike you can save money, and make up for the difference in speed by training your "hooves". After 2 full seasons and 5000 km with the bike I had no problems. After 1 season, a slight play in the rear hub came out during the inspection, which the guys from Decathlon fixed at the price of the inspection. Additionally, once a brake screw came loose and I rubbed it against the wheel for a while. It was enough to tighten it. Apart from that, absolutely zero problems. I ride mainly on bike paths in a large city and on the road outside the city. In my opinion, if you are looking for your first road bike (for me it is my first) this bike is ideal. We are not entering the carbon frame market yet, but we have good equipment at an affordable price, where to have a full Shimano 105 group you have to add a few zlotys, a good and solid frame with a warranty and very good wheels with tires. If riding this bike does not satisfy you, it will be a signal to simply not go for a more expensive one. After riding it, I will look for a new and more expensive bike only in case I have an accident on this one and I simply break it. If I had to point out the disadvantages of this bike: - V-brake rim brake. Unfortunately, there is a huge gap compared to disc brakes and, for example, when I am riding downhill and I have over 60 km/h on the counter, I know that I have to start pressing the brake, because in a crisis situation I simply would not brake and I would kill myself. Unfortunately, this takes away a bit of the sense of security and you have to remember that above a certain speed we will not stop this bike too quickly. On disc brakes, however, the braking distance is much shorter. -You have to change the saddle, because the default one is not super comfortable. I threw in a Stella Italia X for 120 PLN and it's a dream. -A tangle of cables on the handlebars. I understand that it is due to easier servicing... -Not much space on the handlebars to add gadgets

It could be better

I am 191cm, and the bike in size XL seems very big. I should be in the middle of the manufacturer's size, and I will probably have to change the stem to a shorter one. The wheels were supposed to be fulcrum racing 6, but the ones installed are worse "600". Additionally, the weld on the rim sticks out, rubs the brake and makes noise when braking. The service assured that the bike was adjusted. It turned out at home that they only screwed it together without adjustment and I had to return it for service. The lights are at the level of a bike for PLN 500, it is a shame to put something like that on a bike for PLN 5,000. There is no full "105". Ultimately, the cassette, crank and chain will have to be replaced in a few thousand kilometers, so it is bearable.

Perfect balance price/quality

I have been using this bike for two years for sports and recreation and commuting. The bike is incredibly good and balanced in terms of construction and drive. Shimano 105 is a perfect shifting group for more performance-oriented amateurs and enthusiasts. A wonderful and versatile bike with an even better price-quality ratio. Highly recommended!!!

Perfect bike, great to ride. Everything, so-called, fits, nothing wobbles, absolutely sufficient for recreational riding. Stable even at higher speeds. The brakes are adequate. Comfortable even for longer rides. I am extremely satisfied.

Excellent value for money

Excellent value for money

A user for several years, this bike always gives him the same pleasure on every outing. Versatile, flexible and precise in changing gears as well as during braking phases, a real treat!

Perfect bike of the 2020s (so far)

I bought this bike because of its perfect price/performance value. It's light. It has cable routing outside of the frame. It's equipped with a simple yet effective 105 mechanical groupset. The wheels are not the heaviest of the price class, yet you can buy spare parts for them, since the manufacturer and model are known. Many competitors sell their bikes with unknown wheels - no chance to repair them later on. You could spend maybe 4-5000 EUR more to find a carbon frame bike with a similar weight. But then you'd have disc brakes which are harder to maintain and cost more to maintain. Then you'd have a very fragile frame. Then you'd have a bike you wouldn't want to ride into the city on. Then you'd most likely have a tubeless setup, with all the hassle around it. Then you'd have internal cabling, prohibiting many, otherwise easy maintenance tasks. This then results you relying on the bike shops and paying them hefty fees for adjustments are repairs. But this bike is simple, effective and cheap. You can fix it on your own at home. You don't need more of a bike, unless you want to win every race in your country. For fitness rides this is the bike to choose. What I've replaced: the steering bar was replaced with one that is narrower and has less drop and shorter reach, to match my philosophy. Also replaced the tires with Tufo Comtura Duo 28s. I've done about 1500km with this bike until today and I enjoy it very much. Decathlon, don't change this bike setup. As long as there are rim brakes, mechanical sets and external cabling, this will remain the best bike on the market, if priced correctly.

I wanted a bike…

I wanted a new bike following my desire to no longer use my old Mercier, I bought this model on the advice of a seller, no regrets, I had the impression at first that it moved forward by itself, it is very comfortable for a bike of this category, on the aesthetic and mechanical levels, it is successful. Just a shame the version equipped with Ultegra at €1400 was not available, but the 105 mechanics are largely suitable

First road bike

VanRysel EDR AF 105 is a road bike that combines performance and affordability, ideal for ambitious amateurs. The frame made of aluminum, combined with a carbon fork, provides good stiffness and comfort on long routes, while maintaining low weight. The biggest advantage of this model is the use of the Shimano 105 group (although incomplete). Thanks to the 11-speed cassette and smooth operation of the derailleurs, changing gears is quick and trouble-free, which allows for effective riding on both flat sections and during climbs. This is an excellent choice for those looking for a bike with a sporty character, high-quality components and a solid construction, without having to invest a lot of money.

There is no better value on the market. I have really been enjoying riding this bike and would recommend it to anyone.

A surprise

I had never had a racing bike, only a mountain bike. I am an amateur and I am not very athletic, but since I have been riding this bike I have been out for at least 50 km. I have only added the quick release pedals and I find it perfect, light and stable. Powerful braking, precise and fast gear changes. Aesthetically pleasing, the aluminum frame also gives a good feeling of robustness even though the bike weighs less than nine kg in size S. It is worth every penny, and with 1150 euros I honestly don't know what you can find better.

Not available in most sizes :(

It would be my first road bike and the positive feedback in the videos, pictures and reviews is what convinced me, but I'm a bit skeptical because of the dimensions. I am between 181-183 cm and this is right on the border of the M and L size range. There is no M in stock, but I am a little afraid of the bigger ones.

Great bike

That's all I need; light, fast, precise and beautiful!

Meets my need very well which was a very light bike. He's nervous, but does what we expect.
